Coffee

Coffee covers two distinct species treated as one commodity: Arabica (~60%) and Robusta (~40%). ~10.2-10.8 MMT global production from 25M+ smallholder farming households. Brazil dominates production (~38% globally) and is the world's only major producer of both species. The Robusta market entered structural deficit in 2023/24 driving London prices to all-time highs; Arabica peaked above $4.30/lb in 2024 on Brazilian climate damage. EUDR Dec 30, 2026 deadline applies to all coffee, with massive smallholder mapping challenge. Climate vulnerability projected to reduce suitable Arabica area 50% by 2050.
