Philippines market dynamics
Shift towards higher-value processed coconut exports. Major origins are moving up the value chain from raw nuts and copra to processed products such as desiccated coconut, coconut milk, water and specialty oils, often in partnership with multinational brands.[4][6] This favors origins with better processing infrastructure and quality control, concentrating value capture in a smaller group of exporters.
Philippine export dominance. The Philippines remains the anchor supplier for global coconut oil trade, with output around 1.6 MMT in 2025 and the largest export surplus.[3] This concentration means global pricing and availability are highly sensitive to Philippine crop and logistics conditions.
