Netherlands market dynamics
Demand fluctuations and recent market contraction. From 2019 to 2023, global Brazil nut export value fell by about 28.8% to USD 229 million due to excess stocks and changing consumption trends, notably in Europe.[4] However, 2024 saw a rebound to around USD 345.6 million in exports, suggesting cyclical recovery and continued, but volatile, demand for premium and health-positioned nuts.[4][5]
Processing concentration in a few hubs. Physical cocoa powder trade is concentrated in a small number of grinder and trading hubs rather than dispersed across many origins.[2][6] This concentrates price discovery, working-capital needs, and supply-chain disruptions in a limited set of ports and processors.
